Get permission.
Always make sure you have permission before you search. Get written permission from private property owners, and check Federal, State, County, and local laws.
Respect others' property.
Respect the rights and property of others. Never enter private property without the owner's permission, and always return any valuable property you discover if you can find the original owner.
Respect our historical heritage.
Never destroy archaeological or historical treasures. Work with local museums or libraries to document important finds.
Don't damage the field.
Always neatly fill in and pack down any holes you make, no matter where you dig. Leave the land as pristine as possible, and protect our natural heritage.
Pick up trash.
If you find trash or litter, pick it up and dispose of it properly. Always leave a site cleaner than you found it.
Be a treasure hunter ambassador.
All treasure hunters may be judged by the example you set. Act as an ambassador for the hobby, and use thoughtfulness, consideration and courtesy at all times.
